Pentagon Admits: U.S. Missile Defense Systems Have Lost Effectiveness

Pentagon official Berkowitz stated that the U.S. missile defense system is unable to provide protection against hypersonic weapons.

U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense for War, Mark Berkowitz, warned that the American missile defense system has lost its effectiveness.

Berkowitz said, “Our missile defense system is limited, and its effectiveness is decreasing as advanced threats emerge.”

The official noted that the current U.S. missile defense system provides only minimal protection against hypersonic weapons, advanced cruise missiles, and large-scale ballistic missile attacks. In this context, he emphasized that the establishment of the “Golden Dome” system, promised by Donald Trump, is of great importance for the country’s vital interests.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the Golden Dome would include land, sea, and space-based systems, and is expected to be operational before the end of his second presidential term.
