Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the Iranian people are courageously and heroically fighting for their sovereignty during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Putin met with Araghchi in St. Petersburg.
He emphasized that Russia intends to maintain its strategic relations with Iran.
Saying that he had received a message last week from Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, Putin stated:
“Please convey my sincere thanks and confirm that Russia, like Iran, intends to continue our strategic relations. Kindly also deliver my gratitude along with my wishes for health and success to the Supreme Leader of Iran.”
The Russian leader expressed hope that the Iranian people will overcome this difficult period and that peace will prevail.
Putin also noted that Russia will do everything possible to ensure that peace returns to the Middle East as soon as possible, in line with the interests of Iran and other countries in the region.
