Russian Foreign Ministry: Sanctions Are Crippling the Global Economy, Not Russia

Marat Berdiyev, Ambassador-at-Large for the G20 and APEC at the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that Western sanctions have failed to harm Russia and are instead damaging the global economy.

Speaking to Sputnik, Berdiyev commented on the sanctions imposed on Russia, arguing that their impact has been contrary to their intended purpose and has dealt a blow to the world economy.

“They Are Crippling the Global Economy”

Emphasizing that the sanctions have not destabilized the Russian economy, Berdiyev said:

“These sanctions are not weakening Russia; they are undermining the health of the global economy and effectively leaving it crippled. Meanwhile, we continue to actively trade energy resources with our partners, integrate into new supply chains, and feel completely secure.”

“It Is Impossible to Exclude Russia From the Energy Market”

Berdiyev stressed that Russia, as one of the world’s largest energy producers and suppliers, cannot be isolated from global markets. Highlighting the country’s key role in the global oil market, he stated that “it is impossible to push Russia out of this system.”
