Russia’s Foreign Ministry: We are taking strategic measures against NATO’s nuclear moves

Another response has come from Russia regarding NATO’s uncontrolled expansion of its nuclear capacity. Grushko emphasized that Moscow will take this situation into account in its nuclear deterrence strategy.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandr Grushko stated that NATO’s unchecked increase in nuclear capacity poses a serious threat to Moscow and that this will be directly reflected in the country’s nuclear deterrence strategy.

Speaking to Sputnik, Grushko said that the rise in the Western alliance’s military capacity is being closely analyzed by Moscow.

Stressing that NATO countries’ attempts to expand their nuclear potential without limits will not go unanswered, Grushko said: “Within this framework, all potential threats arising for our country will be taken into account as part of the development strategy of Russia’s nuclear deterrence forces.”

According to the Russian diplomat, this process makes it necessary for Russia to carry out new calculations in its military planning and defense structure.

“Nuclear rhetoric is escalating in Europe”

Grushko pointed out that the widespread militarization observed across Europe is being supported by the nuclear plans of the United Kingdom and France, and criticized Paris’s recent stance.

Evaluating French President Emmanuel Macron’s initiatives to expand his country’s nuclear arsenal to protect the entire European continent and to deploy strategic air forces across the region, Grushko said: “It is quite clear who Paris’s nuclear rhetoric is addressing and against whom its practical steps in this field are directed,” expressing Russia’s reaction to the West’s nuclear strategy.
