Erdoğan-Trump Call Focuses on Three Key Issues: Iran, Gaza and Regional Security

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and U.S. President Donald Trump discussed Türkiye-U.S. relations, tensions between Iran and the United States, developments in Gaza and regional security during a phone call.

According to a statement released by the Communications Directorate, Erdoğan emphasized that diplomacy should be given priority in resolving tensions between Iran and the United States. The Turkish president said Türkiye hoped talks would continue and reiterated that Ankara would maintain its support for efforts aimed at achieving peace.

Erdoğan Delivers Message on Diplomacy

Tensions between Iran and the United States were among the key topics discussed during the call. Erdoğan stressed the importance of making the most effective possible use of diplomatic channels to resolve disputes between the two sides.

The president stated that Türkiye would continue to support diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing further escalation of tensions in the region.

Emphasis on Regional Security

Erdoğan also referred to the Joint Defense Agreement signed with Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He said the agreement demonstrated a strong commitment to ensuring regional stability and security.

The two leaders also discussed Türkiye’s approach to maintaining regional security and the global implications of developments in the region.

Gaza Message: Lasting Peace and Reconstruction

The situation in Gaza was also discussed during the Erdoğan-Trump call.

President Erdoğan stated that Israeli authorities’ actions targeting Palestinians had increased at a time when efforts were being made to move to the second phase of the Gaza peace process.

Erdoğan reiterated that Türkiye would continue supporting efforts to establish lasting peace in Gaza and would also support steps aimed at the reconstruction of the territory following the war.

The two leaders additionally discussed Türkiye-U.S. bilateral relations as well as regional and global developments.
