U.S. Secretary of the Navy Steps Down

The U.S. Department of Defense announced that Secretary of the Navy John Phelan has stepped down, and that Under Secretary Hung Cao will serve in the role on an acting basis.

The Pentagon confirmed that Secretary of the Navy John Phelan has left his position.

Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell stated in a social media post that Phelan had resigned from his post.

Parnell also noted that Under Secretary of the Navy Hung Cao will temporarily assume the role.
